Licence Holder Ordering Guide

Ordering as a Licence Holder

Thank you for being a verified licence holder with Ballistic Guns & Ammo. This page outlines the ordering process and your legal obligations when purchasing firearms and ammunition in South Africa.

Before You Order

  • Ensure your firearms licence is valid and current for the specific firearm or ammunition category you are purchasing.
  • Confirm that the item you are purchasing is permitted under your licence category (e.g. Section 13 – occasional hunter, Section 15 – dedicated hunter, Section 16 – dedicated sport shooter, Section 20 – dealer).
  • Your account must be approved and tagged as a verified licence holder before checkout is enabled.

⚠ Important Notice 1: Firearm Purchases

A valid SAPS Competency Certificate is required when purchasing any new firearm. You will be required to submit proof of your competency before your order is processed.

Please note: All firearms purchased through Ballistic Guns & Ammo will remain in our possession until the following conditions are met:

  1. Your individual firearm licence application has been approved by SAPS.
  2. The original firearm licence printout is presented to us in person.

Only once both requirements are fulfilled will the firearm be released to you. This is a legal requirement in terms of the Firearms Control Act (Act 60 of 2000).

⚠ Important Notice 2: Ammunition Purchases

A valid Firearms Licence must be presented before any ammunition can be sold or dispatched. Ammunition will only be released once your licence has been verified and confirmed to cover the relevant calibre or category.

Please ensure your licence details are up to date on your account and submit a copy to Charne@ballisticguns.co.za prior to placing your order.

⚠ Important Notice 3: New Firearm Applications

If you are applying for a new firearm licence, the following documents are required so that we can prepare your SAPS 271 Application Form on your behalf:

  • Copy of your ID document
  • Copy of your SAPS Competency Certificate
  • Proof of Residence (not older than 3 months)
  • Any existing Firearms Licences (if applicable)

Once we receive your documents, we will complete the SAPS 271 form and have it delivered to your address for your convenience, ready for submission to your nearest SAPS firearms office.
